For Marguerite!
Top, girl cat Cally (my love <3)
Bottom, boy cat Trevi (evil but I love him anyway)

Genetically altered cat with a jellyfish protein, glowing green.
And why are they green? Because they are carrying a primate gene (along with a green fluorescent marker) called TRIM5alpha that scientists hope will make them immune from the virus FIV. If this works, it could have implications for one of FIV’s relatives … HIV.
Now, wait, wait, wait. Let me get this straight. Glow-in-the dark cat… might lead to cure for HIV.
There is no possible way this could get any more awesome. Long as it doesn’t hurt the cat. But if it’s born that way, I’d say not.
Yeah yeah sure sure medicine and shit whatever when am I going to be able to purchase a small herd of glow in the dark cats? Do they come in any other colors? I’LL TAKE EIGHT
OH MY GOD GIVE ME THAT THING
On the negative side, though, the cats will no longer be able to hunt or sneak around at night.
Well judging by the picture, only lighter colors glow. So I’m assuming white cats would look like glowing ghosts and black cats would still be practically invisible in the dark and then BAM! glowing claws.
